Dr. Joshua Zlotnick

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Josh Zlotnick was born outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Passionate about veterinary medicine, he came to North Carolina to study at Duke University where he earned his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology. Having quickly fallen in love with North Carolina, Dr. Zlotnick decided to become a resident and earn his veterinary degree from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Zlotnick is thrilled to begin his career at Falls Village Veterinary Hospital. He feels honored to serve the healthcare needs of companion animals in North Raleigh. His specific interests include Neurology, Internal Medicine and Fish Medicine as fish are common, but underserved patients.

Dr. Zlotnick sees himself not only as an animal doctor, but as a veterinary medical educator. His love of learning is contagious. He strongly believes that the best patient outcomes are a result of clear communication and teamwork between pet owners and veterinarians. Dr. Zlotnick’s goal is to help owners understand their pet’s health and the reasons behind every diagnostic, treatment and preventative plan.

On a Personal Note…

Dr. Zlotnick is an avid bread baker. Waking up early and taking simple ingredients to create something that makes people happy is priceless to him. He also enjoys trail running and has a green thumb for houseplants.

Every year, Dr. Zlotnick volunteers with the Wake up and Read Book Drive. He attributes his enthusiasm for reading and learning to having had access to books as a young child.

"Helping those who cannot help themselves is the most noble part of this profession. Pets cannot speak and tell us exactly what is wrong, but they communicate their needs to us sometimes in obvious ways and sometimes in ways much more subtle. Being able to translate their messages is a key to improving their health. It relies on teamwork between pet owners and the veterinary care team."
