Veterinary Clinical Trials

Falls Village Veterinary Hospital has proudly participated in more than 30 FDA, EPA, and USDA clinical trials since 2014.

The joint effort of clients, patients, and our clinical trial team has helped get numerous medications and vaccinations approved. Many are items we use daily!

Most trials offer free exams, bloodwork, and medications. In exchange, owners who participate are expected to bring their pet in for re-checks at specified times and complete all necessary at-home monitoring.

It is very rewarding to know you were involved in the process of drug approval, which can help improve the quality of life for all animals.

Our Clinical Trial Team is currently seeking patients to participate in the following clinical trials:

Dogs with Osteoarthritis

Enrolled dogs require 6 office visits over a 4 month period. Your dog will receive specialty veterinary care throughout the study, including physical exams, radiographs, blood work, and urinalysis at NO OUT-OF-POCKET cost to you. This study may be used to support a new animal drug application to be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration.

Cats with Diabetes

We’re looking for cats that meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be newly diagnosed or have well-controlled diabetes and are currently receiving insulin.
  • Have an owner that is willing to commit to the visit schedule over a 6 month duration.
  • Cats must be willing to have routine BG spot checks at home.

 

 

Calling senior dogs!

We’re recruiting dogs aged 10 and older to participate in the STAY study for a

treatment intended to extend lifespan in older dogs. Does your dog meet these eligibility requirements?

– Aged 10 or older

– Documented proof of age

– Weighs at least 14 pounds

– Able to participate for the full four-year duration of this study

 

The study and associated visit expenses and lab work are provided at no cost to you.

Dogs with Kidney Disease

We are gathering data on dogs currently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Physical exam will be performed and blood and urine samples will be obtained. Two visits will be needed over the next 6 months. There is no cost to you and a small clinic credit will be applied for qualifying patients.

 

 

Dogs with Skin Lesions

We are recruiting patients with localized skin lesions for treatment with a topical investigational product. Requires 3 visits over a 14 day period. Physical exams and labwork performed at no charge. Please call 919-847-0141 to see if this is an option for your pet.

 

Dogs with Fleas

Enrolled pets require 4 office visits and receive FREE flea medications during the 90-day study as well as FREE lab work and physical examinations. This study is evaluating a potential new flea control for dogs and will evaluate the safety and efficacy of this product.

Cats with Allergies

We are currently enrolling cats into a clinical study so we can better understand how Atopic Skin Syndrome works and to potentially develop new therapies to treat it more effectively.
